Local franchise owners Chandu Gangidi and Shyam Padamati are planning to open their third location of Desi District, this time targeting the Concord market. They will open the restaurant and bar in a 5,500-square-foot space at 8524 Pit Stop Ct NW, Gangidi told What Now Charlotte.

“We have a lot of customers coming from the north part of Charlotte,” Gangidi said. “People love our food and the ambience and they want us to come there. So that’s one of the main reasons we’re expanding [to Concord].”

Desi District serves modern Indian street food. The brand got its start in Dallas, doubling as both a fast-casual restaurant and a market selling Indian groceries, snacks, spices and more.

Gangidi and Padamati opened a location in Pineville last year, marking the first Desi District in North Carolina. They also recently opened a second spot in Uptown.

The Concord location will have a seating capacity of more than 120 customers and will feature only the restaurant portion of the Desi District concept, not the market.

Gangidi said construction has been underway in the second-generation restaurant space, and it is in the final stages of development. They are hoping to open in early summer.

In the future, customers can expect to see Gangidi and Padamati expanding to further locations in the Charlotte area.
