Desi District, an urban Indian street food eatery and market, is preparing to take over Charlotte, starting with a new location in Pineville at 11812 Carolina Parkway Place.

The Texas-based company is getting ready to make its North Carolina debut with the help of franchise owners Chandu Reddy Gangidi and Shyam Padamati. The new Desi District will sit in a 15,440-square-foot space and is expected to open sometime around August 2024, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Desi District currently has five locations in Texas, with seven more in the pipeline, including additional Charlotte locations.

Desi District is the newest tenant announced for Parkway Crossing shopping center. It was recently announced along with Playland Indoor Playground + Cafe and Fight Sports Charlotte, all of which are expected to open this year. MPV Properties says the 55,664-square-foot shopping center, located at 11812 Carolina Parkway Place, is now fully leased. The new Desi District will offer visitors near Carolina Place Mall and Atrium Health Pineville a taste of urban Indian street food and a place to get unique ingredients.

When the new Desi District opens later this year, customers can expect a specialty grocery store that offers fresh raw halal meats, produce, and spices, as well as a full-service restaurant. Some items on the menu at Desi District include Kati rolls, which can be made vegetarian or non-vegetarian, burgers, curries, kebabs, tacos, Veg-Dum Buryan, and much more. The company is also equipped to organize and cater for large events or parties, as the massive space will serve as a banquet hall.
