Popular soft serve ice cream and baked goods shop Dollar Cone have officially reopened under new ownership in Monroe, located at 4021 Weddington Rd.

The ice cream shop reopened today, July 30, after being sold to longtime customers Pam and Jeff LeBlanc, according to Charlotte Observer. Dollar Cone has been closed since March when the family purchased the business, but founder Julie McNulty, began looking for new owners last year. Customers were treated to free hot dogs, activities, music, and giveaways during the grand opening until 8 pm.

The LeBlancs have been going to Dollar Cone for the past 15 years, often bringing their children and grandchildren for a sweet treat. While the ice cream shop will have the same feel, the new owners added a little color to the space and have some new food items on the menu. The original menu items will still be available, but kids can now enjoy ice cream in a new kid-sized cone for only $1, paying homage to the name. Dollar Cone plans to introduce hot beverages and warm desserts in the fall.

“As 20-yr residents of Union County, we feel honored to carry on the tradition of Dollar Cone,” according to Pam and Jeff LeBlanc on the company’s website. “We brought our son to Dollar Cone as a kid, and then his daughter had her first ice cream cone there. Dollar Cone has meaning to our family, and we know the same is true for hundreds of other local families as well. We feel strongly that everyone deserves a place to take their family that is enjoyable, affordable, and feels like home. We want Dollar Cone to be that place for our community.”
