Shipley Do-Nuts has a spot in Concord that opened in February, spearheaded by franchisees John and Lillian Brijeski. They have a second location on the way to University City, scheduled to open this fall. However, their plans for the franchise in the Charlotte area do not stop there.

The Brijeskis are eyeing new areas in the Greater Charlotte market to head next, including spots in Huntersville, Mooresville and Cornelius, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. While exact locations are forthcoming, customers can expect to see at least five locations enter the Charlotte market from the Shipley Do-Nuts brand.

Shipley Do-Nuts launched in 1936 when Lawrence Shipley, Sr. created a simple doughnut recipe that became popular among customers at his initial store in Houston. Now, the brand offers more than 60 varieties of doughnuts to choose from, including their popular classic glazed doughnuts as well as flavors like cherry iced and chocolate cream-filled doughnuts. The menu also includes other pastries and treats like kolaches, rolls and coffee.

The Brijeskis are the first to bring the brand to North Carolina. Shipley Do-Nuts has a strong presence in the Southeast market, with more than 350 locations open.
