The iconic bar and restaurant in Dilworth, Ed’s Tavern, is getting ready to open a new location in Cornelius at 17044 Kenton Dr.

The company’s third concept will move into the former home of Galway Hookers/Piper’s Tavern, first reported by Jason Thomas on Instagram. Ed’s Tavern owner Tina Blundell tells What Now Charlotte there is no exact opening date, but she and co-owner Lance Blundell hope to open the new location in July 2023. The duo is currently renovating the space to make it look like the other locations. Customers can expect an extensive drink menu, an outdoor patio, and friendly staff.

When the new Ed’s Tavern opens later this year, it will be the second restaurant opened by the company in two years. The Blundells opened their second concept, FreeMore Tavern, in Wesley Heights, offering only 12 beers on draft and the same menu. Ed’s Tavern renamed itself as Bourbon N Burgers in 2017, but the change didn’t sit well with customers. The owners rebranded back to Ed’s after only a few months. Now the company is ready to expand the brand to a second location.

Much like the original at 2200 Park Road, the new Ed’s Tavern will be a family-friendly bar and grill with a covered bar, 32 taps of mostly local NC and regional craft beer, 30+ big-screen TVs, and more. As for food, customers can expect plenty of burgers made with Ed’s signature 6oz patty packed with chuck, brisket & short rib. Sides include onion rings, fries, tots, mac & cheese, cucumber salad, sauteed veggies, and chips.
