Chef Hector Gonzalez-Mora appears to be on the move after El Toro Bruto announced its upcoming closure at Resident Culture in South End.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Gonzalez-Mora would exit from the brewery on December 17 so the company can switch to a barbecue-focused menu under the direction of executive chef Edmar Simoes, according to Charlotte Observer. As a result, the chef plans to open El Toro Bruto’s elsewhere in Charlotte, although the exact location is still being determined, as Gonzalez-Mora is looking at several properties.
“As we bid farewell to this chapter, we want to assure you all that this is not a goodbye, but rather a ‘see you soon.’ We are excited to announce that Chef Hector and El Toro Bruto will remain firmly rooted in the Charlotte culinary landscape, and we have big things planned for the future,” Chef Hector Gonzalez-Mora posted in a message via El Toro Bruto’s Instagram. “We are ready to embark on this new chapter and are committed to delivering the same bold flavors and authentic experience that you’ve come to expect from us, and we promise to maintain the same level of excellence and innovation that has become synonymous with our name. Stay tuned, as we have exciting developments and culinary adventures on the horizon.”
When Gonzalez-Mora finds a home for this concept, customers can expect a menu focused on his most popular dish, tacos, with other dinner entrees added later. To start, the chef will focus on breakfast and lunch. Customers can expect a variety of delicious ingredients in each taco, such as carne asada, freshly cut onion and cilantro, and different salsas. Gonzalez-Mora tells CharlotteFive, “It will happen sooner rather than later.”
