A new casual neighborhood restaurant called Elk Ave Tavern is making its debut in downtown Rock Hill, located at 125 Elk Ave.

The new neighborhood spot will move into the former home of Kinch’s restaurant and, more recently, Sweet Tea Cafe, according to the company’s Instagram. The new restaurant is the latest from Cibi! Cibi! Food truck, led by Anthony Legatie and Hunter Newton, according to the CharlotteFive. The food truck will have its last day at Slow Play Brewing on Nov. 4 but will continue to serve Charlotte via food delivery services. Legatie and Newton plan to open Elk Ave Tavern next year.

“We want this to be a casual neighborhood spot for locals to enjoy high quality, delicious food and drink at a fair price, with the standard of service you deserve,” according to the company’s Instagram. “We’re currently working through the permitting process with the City of Rock Hill and plan to begin construction and upgrades to the space as soon as possible. We can’t wait to see you in this space and hope to be serving you for many years to come.”

When the restaurant opens next year, customers can expect a completely separate concept from Cibi! Cibi!, while having some overlapping menu items. Nonetheless, customers can expect a menu full of modern comfort foods, with beer, wine, and cocktail selections. Owners are working on obtaining permits for interior construction, adding a 15-foot bar and a covered patio on Black Street.

“While we’re still working on the specifics of the menu, we’re shooting for simple and approachable yet elevated pub-style fare, changing seasonally, drawing from the classics, and incorporating a wide variety of cooking techniques. Nonetheless, we definitely plan to have a banging burger,” Newton told CharlotteFive. “Our contractor is ready to begin construction on the interior as soon as we have the required permits, so we’re hoping to open our doors sometime winter of 2024, but we all know how these things go.”
