New development The Station from Brahm Investments has plans for multiple tenants on the way. In addition to Seemingly Overzealous — the dairy-free ice cream shop that is rapidly expanding throughout the Charlotte area — which announced plans late last year to join the development at 126 Matthews Station Street, coffee shop Fly Kid Fly will take a 1,700-square-foot space, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Fly Kid Fly, helmed by the Durban Group, opened its first location at the Bowl at Ballantyne in 2024. Menu items include espresso drinks, including signature items such as the Cloudburst with Japanese black sugar, a cloud of cream, agave and sea salt, as well as Rare Air made with ube, oat milk powder, tart cherry, cinnamon and cardamom.
Another location appeared to be heading to another spot in Matthews, but that spot has spurred litigation due to lease payment disagreements.
An opening timeline for the Fly Kid Fly location at The Station has not been announced. However, Seemingly Overzealous previously shared that their Matthews location will likely open in the summer
Other expected tenants at The Station include a pilates studio, a record shop and a rooftop bar.
