The Beckworth is currently under development at the historic Johnston Building in Uptown Charlotte. Located at 212 South Tryon, the project will transform the office building, initially constructed in 1924, into a luxury boutique hotel with 240 guest rooms, a 10,000-square-foot meeting area and a 3,500-square-foot ballroom.
Due to the historic nature of the building, construction will preserve architectural and historically significant elements, according to Cleveland Construction.
This week, local hospitality group Built on Hospitality announced that it is partnering with the developer, KHP Capital Partners, for the culinary offerings in the forthcoming hotel. Built on Hospitality will manage two on-site restaurants, in addition to several other elements.
“This boutique lifestyle hotel will be transformative for Uptown — and all of Charlotte,” the Built on Hospitality team stated in an Instagram announcement. “The chance to honor a historic property while transforming it for modern use is a rare opportunity, but one we’re no stranger to. We can’t wait to bring you memorable food and beverage experiences in what will be a luxurious, sophisticated atmosphere.”
The Built on Hospitality team has not revealed the names of the two restaurants and details regarding offerings remain scarce. However, they did share with the Charlotte Business Journal that the restaurants will fulfill diverse needs, ranging from grabbing breakfast on the go to sit-down dinners.
The hotel is expected to open in late 2026.
Built on Hospitality, helmed by Chris Coleman, Sean Potter and A.J. Klenk, are behind other local concepts, including The Goodyear House, Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails, Folia and Chief’s Modern Cocktail Parlor.
