Golden Cow Creamery, one of Charlotte’s favorite ice cream shops, is planning to open its fourth location in Huntersville at 14516 S. Old Statesville Rd.
Owners, husband-and-wife duo Alex and Liz Hannah, launched the ice cream shop in 2016 and quickly expanded to Uptown, South End, and SouthPark. Now, the couple is planning to open a fourth location within a proposed development by Golden Cow’s affiliated business, H2H Holdings LLC, according to the Charlotte Observer. The new 5,600-square-foot retail space will include space for two more businesses, which Alex believes would be great for a taproom/ brewery and a coffee shop. There is no exact opening date, but considering the size of this project, it is likely to open sometime next year.
Before the company can proceed with its plans, H2H Holdings LLC must receive town rezoning approval. To receive support, a community meeting must be held, which the Hannahs have scheduled for July 31 at the Huntersville Arts and Cultural Center. The Huntersville Planning Board will then vote on the rezoning on September 26 at Town Hall. Finally, the Huntersville Board of Commissioners will hear these recommendations from the Planning Board’s advisory panel and make a final vote on October 16 at Town Hall.
If approved, Golden Cow Creamery will begin working on its fourth location. Those who don’t want to wait can try the scratch-made ice cream from one of its other locations. Golden Cow offers 14 flavors at a time, including six standard and eight rotating, with at least one rotating vegan option. All ice cream is made in Charlotte using the freshest ingredients. In less than ten years, this family-owned ice cream shop has become one of Charlotte’s best dessert options.
