JamRock Jerk Spot is preparing to make the jump to brick-and-mortar. Owners Horace and Karen Williams celebrated the business’s four-year anniversary in late summer and announced via social media in September that they were about to sign a lease on their first restaurant space after operating the business through food trucks for the past four years.
“We just want you to know that with your love, your support and your help, we’re going to do what we set out to do from day one: open our own restaurant,” Horace stated in an Instagram video at the time.
The spot will open at 2091 J A Cochran Bypass in Chester with a “big place, same taste.” The permanent location will allow the team to shift from the mobile lifestyle and provide customers with a set spot to find their food.
JamRock Jerk Spot serves Jamaican-inspired cuisine, offering combo plates such as the jerk chicken combo, the curry chicken combo, the brown stew chicken combo and the oxtail combo, as well as pastries like Jamaican beef patties and Jamaican coco bread. The team’s goal is to connect with and inspire the community through sharing Jamaican culture and cuisine.
The team has been ramping up to opening since September, announcing in late September that they were in the process of obtaining a liquor license. Though an opening date has not been announced yet, they appear to be targeting a November opening.
“We’re not just serving up incredible jerk cuisine; we’re building a new community hub where you can find comfort after a long day, connect with friends and family, and enjoy a mini island escape,” a recent announcement states. “From the moment you walk through our doors, we want you to feel the warmth of Jamaica — a place where laughter flows as freely as the reggae music, and every meal feels like a celebration. We want to be your new ‘spot.’”
