The Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, located at 303 S Church St in Uptown Charlotte, will be refreshing their rooftop bar concept, Merchant & Trade, according to a press release obtained by What Now Charlotte.
Merchant & Trade first opened in 2017 in a 4,500-square-foot rooftop space on the 19th floor of the hotel. It offers an indoor bar space, an outdoor terrace, a private terrace and a lawn area. The bar offers specialty cocktails, beer, wine and shareable food items like charcuterie boards and hush puppies.
It is also known for the views it offers of nearby landmarks like Romare Bearden Park and Truist Ballpark.
“Recognized as one of the top rooftop venues in Charlotte and the Southeast, Merchant & Trade is committed to maintaining its status as a leading cocktail bar and social hotspot,” said Chris Baliles, the director of restaurants, bars and events for Angeline’s, Merchant & Trade and the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, in the press release. “As we approach our eighth year of operation, we aim to ensure that our venue continues to be a top destination for locals and visitors alike.”
The revamp plans include additional seating areas for small groups and improved communal spaces to enhance the social aspect of the bar venue. The hotel plans to keep Merchant & Trade open during the refresh.
“We can’t wait to unveil our refreshed rooftop oasis, a testament to our commitment to providing the best experience possible,” Baliles said in the release.
The Kimpton Tryon is also home to Angeline’s, an Italian-American restaurant concept. The hotel is aiming to finish the Merchant & Trade revamp by early September, according to Charlotte Business Journal.
