A brand new fine dining restaurant called Albertine will make its debut next year in Uptown Charlotte, located at 525 S Tryon St.

The new 4,360-square-foot restaurant is the latest concept from husband-and-wife duo Joe and Katy Kindred, known for their popular all-day café and coffee shop, Milkbread. Albertine will open on the ground floor of the Duke Energy Plaza in Summer 2024, according to a press release. James Beard Award semifinalist chef Joe Kindred will create a European fine-dining dinner experience through flavors and techniques inspired by the greater Mediterranean Basin and American South cuisine. Customers can expect a sophisticated atmosphere, including a full-service bar and outdoor patio.

Albertine will be joined by several other eateries coming to the development, including a third location of Milkbread, also opening next year. Also coming to the Duke Energy Plaza include Que Fresa Taqueria + Bar, Somi Sushi, and 24-hour AJ’s Dry Cleaners, all expected to open later this year. Duke Energy broke ground on the 40-story tower in 2019 and was named to Fortune’s 2023 “World’s Most Admired Companies” list and Forbes’ “World’s Best Employers” list.

“We wanted the Duke Energy Plaza to be a showcase for diverse, locally owned small businesses,” Donna Council, senior vice president of Corporate Real Estate, Aviation, and Business Services, said in a press release. “Ground-floor retailers like these make for a more vibrant area and help add to the dynamic fabric of uptown Charlotte.”
