Frank Manis is opening a fourth Mama’s Pizza Express this month at 862 Brawley School Rd #101 in Mooresville.
Manis views the new spot as a natural expansion from his other locations in Huntersville, Cornelius and Statesville.
“Our thought was we like to be 10-12 miles apart from every one of the stores,” Manis said. “Huntersville to Cornelius is about 8-10 miles, Cornelius to Mooresville is about 10 miles and we’re looking in Troutman, which is about 10 miles from there. That was what inspired us to come [to Mooresville] — to keep moving up the I-77.”
The new spot is anticipated to open on Sept. 23 or 24.
In the meantime, Manis is working on a deal for a Troutman spot, though there is no location secured as of yet.
Manis said that he aims to make Mama’s Pizza Express a community staple, emphasizing that he and his team aim to give back to the community, especially through helping with local school activities such as lunch programs and concessions.
“The difference between us and the typical fast food pizza place is we do a full menu,” Manis said. “We do takeout, we do dine-in, we do pick-up, but we really concentrate on the delivery of Italian meals. So we just don’t do pizzas, calzones and strombolis like everyone else. We do a full menu of everything from subs to pizzas to chicken marsala.”
Other menu items include lobster ravioli, shrimp scampi with linguine and eggplant parmigiana.
