Dressler’s Owner, Jon Dressler, later this year will open Joan’s bakery, the restauranter confirmed with What Now Charlotte Thursday. Dressler is opening Joan’s with chef Rob Clement and Hannah Patel. Joan’s is said by Dressler to be “an homage to my mom.”

The new bakery will be on 1100 Metropolitan Ave #190, just down the way from Dressler’s. The projected opening date will most likely be mid to late September 2023, according to Dressler.

Dressler and crew are looking to keep the classic feel of a bakery with a carryout concept. There won’t be much dining space in the joint, but with the quick service it will keep an original bakery environment.

This open concept bakery will take on chef Clement’s pandemic-born concept of Meshugganah. Fresh cakes, in-house corned beef and pastrami will be offered to patrons along with their specialty cheesecakes. For fans of the Jewish classic matzo ball soup it is yet to be decided as to whether that will be on the menu.

“The idea is to create a high demand through less production” Dressler expressed. With the goal opening date approaching Dressler and co. are excited to work together to create a new go-to-spot in Charlotte.

Editor’s Note: The previously written article incorrectly stated Joan’s is a Jewish style bakery. Joan’s is a bakery focused on cake baking that will offer some Jewish deli items. Meshugganah was previously misspelled. Rob Clement’s name was misspelled. We regret these errors.
