Ballantyne restaurant Miró Spanish Grille is expanding to a second location at SouthPark this year, with plans to open at 4905 Ashley Park Lane, formerly home to Fontana di Vino. Co-owner Felipe Alvarez told What Now Charlotte that they are targeting an August or September opening in space.

“We would like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for the beautiful comments and best wishes we have received on social media about the opening of our SouthPark location,” Alvarez said. “We truly appreciate the support from our longtime friends and guests and thank you for being part of our Miró Spanish Grille community.”

SouthPark has been on their radar for a while, so when the opportunity came to expand there, Alvarez and the team leapt at the opportunity. About 80% of the menu will be the same as the existing location, offering signature dishes including empanadas, paellas, Pulpo Gallego (grilled octopus), Zarzuela de Mariscos (Spanish seafood stew) and tres leches. Beverages will include Spanish wines and craft cocktails.

The 4,000-square-foot space will offer a vibrant, lively and intimate atmosphere with Spanish music.

Eventually, Alvarez hopes to continue brand expansion in the area.

“We feel like we can keep growing in Charlotte,” Alvarez said. “Charlotte could benefit from another location of Miró, so this is a stepping stone toward that goal. SouthPark will give us that spotlight we’re looking for.”
