A brand new cocktail bar called Chief’s is getting ready to replace an early 1900s mill house in NoDa, located at 3024 N Davidson St.
The new cocktail bar is the latest from Bob Peters, the beverage director for Built on Hospitality. The new 50-seat, 1,800-square-foot restaurant and bar will open next to the group’s other concept, The Goodyear House, according to Charlotte Observer. Peters tells What Now Charlotte he expects to open the restaurant sometime in early 2024 but wasn’t able to pinpoint an exact opening date due to the nature of opening a new restaurant.
The bar’s name pays respect to Peters’ late father, whose grandchildren lovingly called him before his passing. Chief and his wife, Marmee, were both known for their Southern hospitality. This concept will reflect their loving nature in a simple yet elegant way through its menu and atmosphere. Customers can expect bar and lounge seating and a small outdoor garden.
The bar’s cocktail menu will feature locally sourced ingredients. As for food, the bar will serve a handful of light bites that reflect what Chief and his wife served his family and friends. The renowned mixologist, who won the 2015 Global Bartender of the Year for The Ritz-Carlton Corporation, should have no problem honoring his late father with this new venture.
“It was important to me that this new concept encompasses my dad’s witty, dry, thoughtful personality, as well as my mom’s heart and Southern charm,” Peters told Charlotte Observer. “To honor my parents in this way is a dream come true. They taught me everything I know about hospitality, and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without them. I’m beyond grateful to the Built On Hospitality team for helping make my vision come to life.”
