Monarch Market, the upcoming food hall coming to One Independence Center in Uptown, has announced two of its three bar concepts coming to 101 N. Tryon St.
The 18,000-square-foot food hall is the latest project from Crescent Communities and Nuveen Real Estate, with Hospitality HQ as the operator. Monarch Market is expected to open in early November 2023, so a handful of tenants have been announced, including Barley & Burger, Curry Junction, Rolled AF, Kabab2Go, Seoul Good, and a new concept from the owners of Sosu. There will be a total of 12 food stalls.
While these food concepts are independently owned, Monarch Market has announced two new bar concepts: Aster Cocktail Room and the open-air Lanai Terrace Bar. Akhtar Nawab, founder of Hospitality HQ, tells What Now Charlotte that these concepts will be owned and operated by Hospitality HQ and Crescent Communities. Visitors of the food hall will be able to take their food offerings and bring them within the bar concepts to enjoy with a drink.
Aster will be located on the second floor above Monarch Market’s main dining area, featuring an indoor cocktail room, outdoor terrace, and higher-end classic cocktails. On the other hand, Lanai Terrace Bar will face Tryon Street and feature roll-up doors connecting to the main bar in a coastal-inspired setting with cocktails to match the ambiance. A third bar and final concept is expected to be announced soon.
“As you can see with these regionally-based, chef-driven brands, Monarch Market is set to be a culinary experience filled with diverse food and culture,” Nawab tells Charlotte Observer. “We look forward to expanding upon our vision for Monarch Market to be an incubator for culinary talent with more like-minded culinary concepts as we move closer to opening.”
