Local restaurateurs Alvaro Carrillo and Bruno Macchiavello are bringing a Peruvian sandwich spot, La Lima, to South End at 131 E. Park Ave.

The 1,800-square-foot fast-casual restaurant is slated to open this fall. It will model a Peruvian sangucheria, focusing its menu on artisanal sandwiches and pastries.

Sandwiches on the menu will feature slow-cooked meats, house-made pastrami and homemade sauces. The sandwiches will also contain influences from Andean, Spanish, Italian, Arab, African, Chinese and Japanese cuisine, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Other menu items include salads, bowls, pastries, sodas and juices.

The dining area will seat about 40 people and will offer a fast-casual, open-kitchen experience. The interior design will be a nod to the Peruvian culture that inspires the menu, and the color palette will consist largely of earth tones and greenery.

“We’re not going to have a lot of sandwiches, but the sandwiches we have, they’re going to be the best,” Carrillo told the Charlotte Business Journal.

Macchiavello is also the chef behind popular locally-based Peruvian concepts Yunta and Viva Chicken. The fast-casual chain Viva Chicken, which focuses largely on marinated rotisserie chicken, now has grown to 15 locations across North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah.

What Now Charlotte reached out to the owners for more information on the new concept but has yet to receive a response. Stay tuned for updates on the new location.
