Van Leeuwen Ice Cream garners national popularity for its seasonal flavors with a focus on premium ingredients. The brand also has several collaborations for its limited editions, like BIGFACE Coffee Affogato with NBA star Jimmy Butler.

Other collaborations include Espresso ice cream created with singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter. The Plaza Midwood shop will serve more than 30 signature flavors, including Honeycomb, Marionberry Cheesecake, Vanilla Bean (named best vanilla ice cream by The New York Times/Wirecutter), and Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb.

Guests can also enjoy milkshakes, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, house-made waffle cones, and 14-ounce pints to go.

Ben Van Leeuwen, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream co-founder and CEO, said: “Charlotte has such a vibrant food culture, we are so happy and excited to be bringing Van Leeuwen here. Our mission has always been to make good ice cream that makes you feel good, and we can’t wait to share that with the Charlotte community.”

“I have been a fan of Van Leeuwen for a while so collaborating on this sundae has been a dream,” said Cris Rojas, the Batchmaker and owner of Batch House.

“Our creation brings together one of our favorite recipes and their delicious ice cream, I cannot wait for you all to try it!”

The Plaza Midwood shop, located at 1711 Commonwealth Avenue, will be open Monday–Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is set to celebrate the grand opening of its Charlotte scoop shop on September 4 with special offers for guests. From 11 AM to 1 PM, ice cream lovers can enjoy $1 scoops, and the first 100 visitors will receive a free Van Leeuwen tote bag.

To mark the occasion, the shop will also debut a limited-time collaboration sundae created with local favorite Cristina Rojas, founder of The Batchmaker. Additional details on the exclusive sundae and other opening day specials will be announced soon.
