Franchisees Shak Patel and Vrund Patel are expanding their footprint for Potbelly Sandwich Works with a new location in Midtown Charlotte. Slated to open by the end of the year, the spot will open at The Metropolitan. It was under construction as of last month, according to a recent announcement.

This will be the sixth location in the state for the two franchise owners. There are nine current locations in North Carolina, including spots in the Charlotte area in Uptown, Ballantyne and Southpark.

Potbelly, which launched in 1977, is known for a wide variety of toasted sandwiches, alongside other offerings such as salads, soups, cookies and shakes. It now has hundreds of locations across the U.S.

More expansion is occurring in the state, including a new location in Winston-Salem — the first of six locations for Dion and Keish Hilliard.
