Protagonist Beer is one of the newest tenants to be announced for The Alley at Latta Arcade, which has been in the process of upgrades and expansions over the past year.

The new spot is expected to be an expansion of the Protagonist Beer brand, introducing a new concept to its portfolio. The spot will be an all-day concept featuring Protagonist’s signature beers in addition to food offerings, including breakfast options, according to a post by Jason Thomas.

Co-owners Ryan McKillen, Mike Salzarulo and Ryan Owens opened the original taproom in 2019. Currently, the brand has two locations: its original taproom in NoDa, where it serves a wide variety of beers, wines and cocktails, and its flagship location in South End, LoSo Brewery and Pizza Kitchen. The flagship location has an expanded food menu, featuring appetizers, salads and pizzas.

The new spot in Latta Arcade is expected to feature a wider food menu in addition to the current drinks and food offerings at the other locations.

The Alley at Latta Arcade has been going through an upgrade recently, introducing new tenants over the past year with more to come. Fellow tenants on the way include Two Scoops Creamery, Knowledge Perk Coffee, the Dumpling Lady and new concept Jean’s Cold Drinks.

While it is unclear exactly when to expect the new concept from the Protagonist Beer team to open, many of the new tenants coming to the Latta Arcade are expecting to open by the end of 2024.
