Local restaurant team Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown announced plans to shutter Reigning Doughnuts after a seven-year run at 3120 N. Davidson Street, according to a recent announcement on the Reigning Doughnuts Instagram page. Its final day will be Feb. 15.
The team launched the concept in late 2018 in an 82-square-foot space that formerly served as a storage closet for Growlers Pourhouse. The spot has been operating as a walk-up window serving fresh doughnuts, including rotating daily flavors.
“It has been such a fun ride, and we’ve loved operating this place — it’s brought so much joy to our guests, our community of NoDa and to us,” the announcement stated. “We are so grateful to our team — everyone has put in so much time, energy and positivity to make this place such a special place to enjoy.”
The announcement cites changes in restaurant industry trends as the main driver for the decision.
However, the space will not stay vacant for long. Tonidandel and Brown will open a new concept, Olivelli Deli, serving deli sandwiches and soft serve at the walk-up window. They have plans for a small buildout.
An opening timeline for Olivelli Deli has not been revealed as of yet.
Olivelli Deli is not the only ongoing project for Tonidandel and Brown. They are also working on renovating a four-story restaurant concept, Wyatt’s Superfine, in the historic Leeper & Wyatt building.
