Romeo’s Vegan Burger, a plant-based restaurant in Charlotte, is opening a new location later this year in Asheville.

The 100% plant-based restaurant recently announced on social media that it would open its third location in Asheville. The company, led by hip-hop artist Monty Faulkner (aka Tigo B) and his manager Lamont Heath, operates from Charlotte at 5518 South Boulevard and Greensboro at 413 S. Tate Street. The exact location and opening date for this new brick-and-mortar is unknown, but the site is currently under construction.

The concept came to life during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the music industry came to a standstill, and the two businessmen were caught in a pivotal moment. Heath spent ten years running a car dealership, a bar, a nightclub, and a pizza shop before becoming Faulkner’s manager in 2013. When the pandemic shut everything down, instead of waiting for something to happen, the two decided to make something happen for themselves and launched Romeo’s Vegan Burger food truck. It felt like the right decision, especially considering the two had been vegan for five years at the time of the business’s inception. The two are now preparing to open a third brick-and-mortar later this year.

“Romeo’s Vegan Burger provides a hamburger that even non-vegans can enjoy,” according to the company’s website. “Beyond delicious, our burgers are a great vegan option for those who live a vegan lifestyle but crave that familiar taste. Our burgers feature vegan buns, plant-based cheese by Follow Your Heart, and vegan homemade sauce. Romeo’s Vegan Burger serves up refreshing organic house-made lemonades, tea, and delicious organic shakes blended with soy Ice Cream.”
