Route 64 Diner Enters the New Year Under New Ownership

The new owners have added more menu items and changed the hours

Route 64 Diner, the beloved barbecue restaurant in Asheboro at 119 Lake Park Road, is entering the new year with new owners.

Stacey and Shane Tanner bought the restaurant last month with the intention of opening on the first of the month. Instead, they opened the eatery about a week before Christmas, according to Stacey’s Facebook announcement. Since then, the new owners have introduced new staff and menu items, including breakfast and more. Route 64 Diner is also now open as early as 6 am to serve various breakfast classics.

“We want to thank each and every one of you for the support that has been shown to our family and staff in the past couple of weeks!” The company recently wrote on its Facebook. “We are amazed at the support our community has shown and continues to show, especially on busy nights with 20-minute waits to get in! We are forever grateful for the smiles on your face when you walk in and the smiles when walking out. We couldn’t do this without each and every one of you, and we look forward to serving you and taking care of each one of you on every visit you make to our Family restaurant!”

This adventure of owning and operating their own food business started about a decade ago when the Tanners launched their food truck, Roadway Dawgs. The food truck offered a wide range of food options for events, catering, and weddings, including burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and more. The duo served Thomasville until getting the opportunity to take over Route 64 Diner. Now, the new owners will continue to serve the community with food and by highlighting other local businesses. This week, the company shared Morrison Grove’s upcoming Valentine’s Day event on their social media.
