After announcing plans to eventually expand into North Carolina, Ohio-based Saucy Brew Works is progressing toward opening in Charlotte at 501 E. Morehead Street.
The company announced in 2021 that it would open its first East Coast location across the street from the Dowd YMCA the following year. Several delays have caused the project to get pushed back, but new details from the Construction Journal suggest the project is officially moving forward. Plans call for constructing a two-story, 29,000-square-foot brewery and taproom, including 10,000 square feet of outdoor space and a 10,000-square-foot rooftop deck.
As of mid-September, the company has yet to submit applications for building permits but has found an architect for the project. Another reason why the project has been delayed for so long is due to financing, according to Cleveland.com. Construction is expected to begin in March 2024 and be completed sometime next year. When it opens, customers can expect at least 20 beers on tap and a full food menu centered around New Haven-style pizza. The restaurant will also offer coffee and other drinks.
“At Saucy Brew Works, we don’t just brew beer,” according to the company’s website. “Since opening our doors in 2017, we’ve been dedicated to putting our minds and hearts into the process, using the finest ingredients and employing state-of-the-art techniques. The result is a selection of enjoyable, elegant, and authentic craft beers. We’re thrilled to bring our customers the best of the best and continually try different approaches to keep our brews fresh and unique.”
