Smooth Monkey, a locally owned smoothie and acai bowl eatery, is opening a new location in Charlotte at 4914 Old Sardis Road, Site C4.

The company’s second site will open in the Strawberry Hill Shopping Center, between Stretch Lab and One Vet, according to Ashton Properties. The eatery will be 1,298 square feet, offering a variety of Acai bowls and smoothies. Company owners opened the first location on Commonwealth Avenue in Plaza Midwood in 2019 and are now getting ready to expand for the first time, with an expected opening date set for January 2024, according to Charlotte Observer.

The health-focused eatery has dozens of options for smoothies and acai bowls. Examples of the smoothie options include Banana Chocolate with bananas, cacao, or Nutella, and milk or the Orange You Glad! with orange, banana, pineapple, orange juice, and pineapple juice. For something with a little more substance, the acai bowls feature a variety of fresh fruit and toppings. The Berry Berry Bowl, for example, is a banana-Acai base bowl topped with granola, sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and hemp seeds.

When Smooth Monkey opens early next year, it will be located in the southeast corner of the multi-building shopping center. It will be the only acai and smoothie option in the area, though some other restaurants offer other grab-and-go options, such as Dunkin’ Donuts. The owners should have no problem attracting customers from other businesses in the shopping center.
