After nearly three years, Plant Joy is closing its doors to make way for another vegan restaurant, Soul Miner’s Garden, coming to Camp North End at 1801 N Graham St #101.
The original Camp North End vegan restaurant will host its last day at the food hall in mid-October, with Soul Miner’s Garden moving in soon after, according to Charlotte Observer. Owner Sasha Quinn started Soul Miner’s Garden as a food truck before opening a brick-and-mortar in Gastonia earlier this year, offering leaded nachos, fries, street tacos, and sliders. This site will remain open while the company expands to Camp North End.
“We planted here, we grew here, we experienced and gave so much joy here,” the Plant Joy team said in a joint Instagram post. “And we made some dang good food too. Now for some good stuff. While our time at camp is coming to an end, we’re planting a delicious seed in our wake. You heard it here first: Soul Miner’s Garden is expanding to camp. Same stall, absolutely delicious vegan food & some of our very favorite people. We are truly leaving this gorgeous space in the best & most capable hands as we hand off the torch to our sisters at Soul Miner’s Garden. Stay tuned for details to come. We can’t thank you enough for the support and love this community has shown us.”
While Plant Joy’s closure is sad news, the incoming replacement proves the food hall is committed to offering a variety of food options. Other eateries include Babe & Butcher, Free Range Bar, Halal Street Food, Popbar, Saru Ramen, and more. Quinn, a Charlotte native and resident, is expected to move her business back into the area.
“Chef Julia and the team at Plant Joy are absolutely amazing, and we are honored to keep quality vegan eats prominent at Camp North End in their absence,” Quinn tells Charlotte Observer. “Many of our fans have asked if we will make our way back to the city, and we are thrilled to announce that we’re coming back!”
