The Seattle-based coffee chain Starbucks is getting closer to opening a new location in Concord at 380 George W Liles Pkwy.

The company is pending approval for permits to open a brand new location between the Harris Teeter-anchored Poplar Crossing and Afton Ridge Shopping Center. While Google has a new location listed at 378 George W Liles Pkwy, Starbucks’ website recently posted job listings for 380 George W Liles Pkwy. This new location will likely open early next year, considering the company posted the jobs late last month and is leaving it up until February 23, 2024.

Starbucks is no stranger to this area, with three locations in the other surrounding shopping centers. Two of these area locations are found within larger retailers, with only one being a freestanding location with a drive-thru. Considering this site is on a vacant lot, this will likely be the second standalone Starbucks with a drive-thru. The company is preparing to enter the new year stronger than ever, recently announcing a Triple Shot Reinvention with two pumps plan, with plans to open 55,000 locations worldwide by the end of the decade, averaging eight new stores a day.

“Turning to International, in the fourth quarter, we saw record store growth of nearly 600 stores across the segment, with international store count remaining higher than that of the U.S.,” Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan said. “Looking ahead, we remain fully optimistic about our headroom across the U.S. and internationally, and we see limitless possibilities across all areas of the business.”

The company expects to have nearly 41,000 stores globally by the end of fiscal year 2024. The U.S. store count is slated to reach more than 16,300, with 4% net new store growth planned in fiscal 2024 and “an aspiration to reach 20,000 over the long term,” Starbucks said.

“Over the past five years, we have opened 9,000 stores, 7,000 of which were outside of the U.S.,” Michael Conway, Starbucks group president of international and channel development, said in a statement.
