Cavendish Brewing announced on Jan. 8 its permanent closure in Gastonia at 207 North Chester St.
“Thank you so much to all of our patrons, turned friends, who have supported us over the years,” the Cavendish Brewing team shared in the announcement. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Cavendish Brewing Company. As many have said, Cavendish was more than just a brewery, but it became the safe space for any and all who stepped through those doors. While Cavendish is no longer operating we hope that the spirit and camaraderie will live on throughout Gaston County.”
However, the space already has new plans on the way. Sugar Creek Brewing and restaurateur Martin Sprock purchased the site with plans for a Sugar Creek taproom, a barbecue restaurant called Dixon’s and production facilities for the brewery, according to reporting by the Charlotte Business Journal.
Sugar Creek Brewing opened in South End in 2014, placing emphasis on Belgian-style beer. Their offerings include The Big O Blood Orange IPA, Sugar Creek Pale Ale and Belgian Dubbel. In addition to beer, the brewery currently serves food items such as charcuterie boards, doner kebabs and paninis.
It appears that the company will slowly be shifting operations to the new site, as extensive construction is still ahead for the new site.
Sugar Creek Brewing also has a restaurant and beer garden on the way to Salisbury.
