Picasso Taqueria at 500 South Main Street at Merino Mill in Mooresville has rebranded to Picasso Mediterranean, shifting its menu and name to usher in a new era for the restaurant.
The taqueria opened last year, and owner Michal Bay told What Now Charlotte that the rebrand comes in light of statistics they have collected on the performance of their dishes. They had some Mediterranean dishes on their menu, and Bay realized that they were selling better.
“We had a few Mediterranean dishes, and the customers loved the tacos, but they were more interested in Mediterranean plates,” Bay said. “These days, technology is so good that it tells you what customers are ordering. The demand for healthy Mediterranean plates and dishes was much more than tacos.”
While the brand will retain some of the more popular taco options, the brand is shifting focus largely to Mediterranean dishes, like hummus, lamb, beef, chicken and seafood like sea bass, alongside side dishes like fresh Greek salads and couscous.
Bay said they are sticking with a simple menu, with emphasis on producing fresh, made-to-order dishes. They focus on quality over quantity, and they aim to make the prices family-friendly.
“The concept is a limited menu, but fresh and affordable for families,” Bay said.
