The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar is preparing to open its first site in the greater Charlotte area, coming to Concord at 5965 Thunder Rd.
This will be the company’s second location in North Carolina, following a site in Wilmington. Now, franchise owners Aaron and Monika Leach plan to bring the brand to the Charlotte area in October 2023, according to Charlotte Business Journal. The new 3,700-square-foot location will sit near the Concord Mills Shopping Center next to the Walmart Supercenter. This will be the company’s first full-service location.
When the restaurant opens later this year, customers can expect milkshakes made from 32 flavors from Blue Bell Ice Cream. The Crazy Mason has expanded from only serving ice cream milkshakes by also offering Crazy Bomb ice cream sandwiches and sundaes built on sugar pearl waffles. The restaurant also offers cobblers, shortcakes, New York-style cheesecake, a six-layer chocolate cake, and a cotton candy burrito.
“I just know what a great market [Charlotte] it is. I know what a diverse market it is,” Crazy Mason co-founder Bo Steele tells Charlotte Business Journal. “My wife and I have a great passion for dessert. We love being innovative and thinking what can we do next. Our motto is to continue to grow and be better than yesterday.”
Steele launched the company with his wife Sherri in 2020 from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. When it first opened, it offered only 16 milkshakes. As the brand moved to other states, including Virginia, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, it doubled its flavor options. The Crazy Mason now has 10 locations, with six additional in the pipeline.
