After creating a warm, welcoming, and healing space on Arty Avenue, the owner of The Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary is opening a new location in Charlotte’s McCrorey Heights neighborhood at 1017 Beatties Ford Road.

Owner Sherry Waters is getting closer to expanding her tea concept to the neighborhood as a part of Historic West End Partners’ “Thrive” revitalization, according to the Charlotte Observer. The Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary is expected to open in early January 2024, offering a variety of eco-sourced loose-leaf teas and locally sourced pastries and sandwiches. While the cafe will serve delicious food and drinks, it will serve as a place to relax and escape the day.

When the Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary’s new location opens early next year, customers can expect the same ambiance as the current location at 2326 Arty Avenue, featuring plenty of couches and local artwork on the walls. The cafe will feature a separate tea tasting room for intimate gatherings. There will also be meditation ceremonies with tea and other holistic wellness events, such as yoga, music, and more. The Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary will serve as a great place to get away, especially for the employees of the various incoming businesses to the area, including Family Mankind Counseling, 704 Cleaners, and Black Pearl Vision.

“In my previous roles as a community chaplain and in nonprofits, I saw a theme of people feeling depleted,” Waters tells the Charlotte Observer. “I created The Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary as a place where people can gain restoration and enjoy a cup of serenity. Tea helps you slow down, and there’s sort of a sacredness to teatime. We have several new businesses going into that same block, in keeping with our master plan focused on the Oaklawn district of Historic West End,” Adams said. “We’re all excited to see them start to open and become a reality. Pauline’s is my go-to place. It’s so different from a coffee shop, with more of a relaxed, calm space.”
