After suddenly closing in May, The Royal Tot has reopened in Belmont, located at 933 Louise Ave. Suite 350.

Scott Gadd of the ETA group previously owned the two-story tropical-themed bar, but the business was forced to close due to rising costs of supplies, location, and the difficulty of bringing a new concept to Charlotte, according to Axios. Now, The Royal Tot has reopened under new management by local real estate investor Greg Walter, who is a friend of Gadd and admired his passion. The owner of Greg Walter Realty plans to keep the bar tiki focused, but has added a few new Asian-inspired food menu items.

Walter has experience in the bar industry, with years spent working in event promotion in Long Island. While he had been wanting to return to the industry, the process of building out a space had always deterred him. Seeing how much work Gadd has put into The Royal Tot, he decided to continue its legacy. While the bar was closed for a little over a month, Walter hired a broader staff to ensure more consistent visits. Customers can also expect the bar to become a more popular destination for special events beyond hosting private parties.

“We’re going to be hosting our own parties and different events and a wide range of things,” Walter tells Unpretentious Palate. “We’ll have speed dating, we’ll have a culture night. We’ll have a lot of different specials depending on the night or different themes to bring people in the door and make The Royal Tot a place that everyone wants to go. My goal is to make The Royal Tot a go-to place for when you want a good party.”
