The Writer’s Room is slated to come to the NoDa area of Charlotte this year. The bar spot will take over 3123 N Davidson St, which previously housed Protagonist, a brewery that moved out of the space to find a larger spot in the Charlotte area.
Now, the 1,500-square-foot space will hold a bar concept designed to be a spot for artists in the NoDa neighborhood. Cory Duran, who also owns The People’s Market, is heading up the concept. He intends to make it a chill atmosphere that features work by local artists, according to Axios Charlotte.
Initially, Axios Charlotte reported that Duran was aiming for a summer opening date. However, there are no updates on the progress of the concept as of yet. The Writer’s Room Instagram page still advertises a “coming soon” banner.
Duran is also the owner behind Charlotte-based café The People’s Market, which features a breakfast menu, burgers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and dinner entrees. It also has a selection of coffee and tea beverages. The People’s Market is located along Elizabeth Avenue in Charlotte and has plans to open a LoSo location and a Myers Park spot this year.
What Now Charlotte has reached out to Duran for more information on the timeline and progress for The Writer’s Room but has yet to receive a response. Stay tuned for updates on the new location.
