Valhalla Pub & Eatery is undergoing a major redo — one that co-owner Kristian Pedersen told What Now Charlotte has been a long time coming. The Valhalla team has been trying to snag the space upstairs for the past decade, and when the tenant moved out, they secured a lease on the space above Valhalla, adding another 2,000 square feet to their footprint at 317 South Church St.
The bar has been closed since earlier this month and the team has been renovating both the original downstairs space and the upstairs addition. Customers can expect to see elements like reclaimed wood, exposed brick and wood floors. The renovations will also allow the kitchen to triple in size.
Pederson said he is looking forward to unveiling unique elements that they have included in the new design.
“We have so many details we have added to this project,” Pederson said. “You’ll be amazed when you see the bartops, the tables and the designs.”
They are aiming to complete renovations and reopen in early August.
“We’re looking forward to showing the community and the regular customers that have been coming here for years that we are finally upgrading the space for them. It’s not just for us, but for our customers as well,” Pederson said. “We want to share our thoughts, designs and passions with our customers. At the end of the day, the space is transforming into something incredible.”
Valhalla first opened in Uptown in 2011, bringing a neighborhood pub and classic American fare like wings, sandwiches, burgers and salads to the community. For Pederson and the team, the redo marks a new era for Valhalla, one that he envisions lasting for years to come.
“We’re looking forward to reopening and having people come here for years and years and years,” Pederson said.
