Amid a year of rapid expansion in North Carolina for Southern burger chain Whataburger, it is lining up more locations to open. It is adding a spot at 79 Inspiration Drive in Garner, according to reporting by the Triangle Business Journal.

The chain first entered the state with a location in Gastonia in May. Since then, it has expanded to locations across the Charlotte and Triad regions, with locations in spots like Mooresville, Archdale, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point. The website currently lists 10 locations in the state.

Whataburger has been surging east with its openings and is expected to unveil locations in the Raleigh area in 2026.

The brand, which has more than 1,000 locations across the U.S., launched in 1950 in Texas, where most of its locations currently lie. It celebrated its 75-year anniversary this year alongside its entry into the North Carolina market.
