Yama Asian Fusion, the popular concept from restaurateur Birdie Yang, is preparing to expand to a new location in LoSo.

The company’s third location will move to the corner of Clanton Road and Dewitt Lane – next to Weathered Souls Brewing Co., Red Clay Ciderworks, State of Confusion, and the upcoming new location of The Everyday Market, according to Unpretentious Palate. Yang and his business partner, Janine Lu, plan to open this location sometime in Fall 2023. The 4000-square-foot facility will be similar to Yama’s Waverly and South Park locations.

“It’s going to be a very hot culinary corner over there,” Yang tells Unpretentious Palate. “We’ll be bringing our high-quality sushi and other dishes from Yama, as well as some dishes from Baku.”

Yang has made a name for himself throughout Charlotte by opening some of the most popular restaurants in the area, starting with Baku, followed by two Yama locations. When the new Yama opens, customers can expect plenty of sushi hibachi entrees, bento boxes, and more, all served in an elegant environment. Yang is also working on a brand new yet-to-be-named concept opening across from The Jimmy on Selwyn Avenue.
