A brand new Bally’s Casino has been given the green light for its design in Chicago, located at 777 W. Chicago Ave.

The new casino was approved by the Chicago Department of Planning and Urban Development this week for its proposed site plans, according to a press release. Bally’s Casino will move into the home of the Chicago Tribune Printing & Distribution Services, which will stop operations by the end of July 2024 to make way for the casino, according to the Tribune. Construction for the casino is scheduled to start in Summer 2024. Renderings of the upcoming casino have been released following the city’s approval.

“Inspired by the city’s interplay—grit and grandeur, structure and the organic, historically-charged and cutting-edge—the design of Bally’s Chicago creates a sense of wonder and adventure accessible to everyone,” Bally’s Senior Vice President of Design and Development Joyen Vakil said in a press release. “The plan is uniquely focused on bringing in nature and wellness through the addition of numerous public plazas and parks.”

On top of the casino, the first phase of the new resort development will feature a food hall, 11 restaurants, a theater and event space, a Riverwalk extension, a museum and exhibition area, VIP areas, and a 500-key hotel. Later phases could include more residential units and hotel rooms, as well as additional space for more retailers. Bally’s purchased the 30-acre site last year and recently negotiated with the newspaper company on its exit so construction can begin, according to Block Club Chicago.
