Franklinton’s Peninsula 2 to Remodel Downtown Columbus

Phase 2 of the Peninsula for the development of Downtown Columbus has been approved by the Downtown Commission. The development will take place near the corner of Broad and Belle Streets in Franklinton. A completion date has not yet been confirmed, but it is speculated to be completed between 2027 and 2028.

Major Changes to Arrive

This project focuses on improving the standard of living for residents in the area. The project features 250+ new apartments, a grocery store, and a parking garage. The development will open doors for new residents. Meanwhile, residents have voiced enthusiasm about the long-awaited addition of a nearby grocery store.

Despite the good atmosphere of the area, access to groceries has long been a challenge for local residents, as shared by some residents during an interview with 10TV. And finally, the parking garage could follow or exceed the offerings of Phase 1 to residents with its 1,400 parking slots.

Access to Essentials

In an interview with 10TV, residents of Downtown Columbus have shared their views on the upcoming project. They have shown the most excitement about the grocery store, which will make getting their essentials easier. The idea of not having to drive to get groceries has residents especially happy.

“We have Kroger on the other side of South High Street, but that is all we have that is relatively close,” said Reauna Brown, a resident, in an interview with 10TV.
