The Starbucks at 1187 Polaris Pkwy in Polaris will soon be refurbished, according to a permit filed with the city of Columbus. The details of the permit identifies work to be performed for an interior and exterior facelift and includes new furniture, fixtures, flooring, wall treatments, an updated condiment bar and merchandise bays indoors, along with new curbing, landscaping and patio furniture listed among outdoor improvements. The scope of work is projected to cost $400,000 and will also include non-cosmetic improvements including electrical, plumbing and HVAC work, according to details in the permit filing.
Starbucks got its start in Seattle, Washington in 1971 and began its aggressive expansion across the U.S. and the world in the 1990s. Today, there are more than 35,000 Starbucks in over 80 countries worldwide. According to the Starbucks website, there are more than 40 Starbucks throughout the Columbus area, including stand alone stores as well as kiosks found in retail stores and food courts.
Although famous for its coffee, Starbucks serves much more than java beverages, including a selection of teas, blended drinks called Frappuccinos, refreshers and bottled waters, sodas and milk. The food selections can vary by location but range from pastries and cookies to breakfast sandwiches, prepared salads and sandwiches.
