The famous Barberton breakfast spot is entering a new chapter this year.
It is being reported The Coffee Pot at 205 2nd Street NW has closed, and it is now under new ownership. The new owners are Mike and Candace Hughes from Today’s Smoke BBQ. The two have not announced a reopening date as they are working on renovations.
Mike first announced he and Candace were taking over the business in a January Facebook post. The Barberton locals hope to continue the legacy of previous owners Ken and Menda Ramsey who managed the space for 25 years.
“We are open to ideas of what the community would like to see for both the menu and style of the restaurant,” says the post. He added they are still developing the business plan for the space.
The breakfast spot serves eggs and toast, omelets, sandwiches and of course coffee. Many of the menu items will stay the same, but there will be some changes based on public input and the owners’ decisions.
Coffee Pot has sat near the corner of 2nd Street NW and W Lake Avenue for a long time, close to bars and restaurants in the area including Barberton Liedertafel and The Tea Lady. Right now, the business is listed as permanently closed online.
No social media has been set up yet to update the community on the opening. What Now Columbus has reached out to the owners, and this article may be updated.
