Central Ohio’s Johnson’s Real Ice Cream announced the grand opening of its second Powell location at 50 S. Liberty St. on Thursday, April 17. This new shop marks the second of three store openings planned for 2025, aligning with the 75th anniversary of the fourth-generation, family-owned company.

To commemorate the occasion, doors will open to the public at 6 p.m., and Johnson’s Real Ice Cream will offer free single scoops to guests at the Powell Liberty Street location from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Each guest can enjoy a complimentary scoop of their favorite flavor. Additionally, the first 50 customers will receive a free limited-edition 75th anniversary t-shirt. Throughout the evening, attendees can also look forward to surprise giveaways.

“We’re excited to expand further in Powell and continue sharing our family’s ice cream with even more of the community,” said Matt Wilcoxon, president of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream in a statement. “As we celebrate 75 years of serving up smiles, we’re grateful for the support of our customers and eager to create new memories for generations to come.”

The Powell Home Road location, which opened in early March, has already been warmly welcomed by the community and greeted over 1500 guests on opening night. Following the Liberty Street opening, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream will celebrate the grand opening of its new Pickerington shop at 192 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, Ohio 43147, in May.

In addition to the openings, Johnson’s has events and activities planned throughout the year to commemorate the brand’s 75th anniversary.
