The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is getting ready to elevate its guests’ experience by adding a brand new attraction and a restaurant coming to Powell at 4850 W Powell Rd.
Zoombezi Bay is still in the planning stages, but according to the zoo’s social media page, the waterpark will welcome a new attraction and restaurant in the summer of 2025. The waterpark has opened its live online voting on the Zoombezi Bay Instagram and Facebook stories to name the restaurant. Now through Feb. 26, anyone can choose their favorite name from the following choices: Beachcombers, Coral Kitchen, Reef Retreat, or Shoreline Bistro. The public can cast a vote once a day until the deadline.
Adding a new yet-to-be-named restaurant will give guests a new place to eat and drink, and the zoo is also working on a new attraction called Conservation Tower. Zoombezi Bay says “the first installation of its kind” will bring fun for the whole family while celebrating the zoo’s effort and dedication to conservation. The tower has three waterslides: The Hive, Mussel Mayhem, and Captain Falls. The new tower will join 13 other waterpark pools, slides, and attractions.
The new Zoombezi Bay opens in May, and season passes are now available. Zoombezi Bay is the largest waterpark in the Midwest, offering thrills and relaxation at every turn. There is already a handful of restaurants onsite that are expected to open when the water park opens, including Bite, Coconut Joe’s Bar, Harvest Pizzeria, Hurican Heather’s Ice Cream, Otter’s Street Tacos, Surfside, The Sandbar, and more. While it’s unclear what this new restaurant will serve, it will provide even more fuel for kids and adults to get through the day.
