Savory Indian dishes like tandoori and chicken curry will arrive in the suburb soon.

614NOW recently reported on a second Khaab Indian Kitchen opening at 230 W Olentangy Street in Powell. The space is staying as Doaba Indian Restaurant until the new team at Khaab opens the rebranded business. Owner Dalbir Mavi told What Now Columbus he is hoping for a soft opening in April or May.

Khaab has become known for serving upscale Indian cuisine, crafted cocktails and specialty wines in the Bexley suburb. The second location will serve many of the same items, with a bar inside the space. Staff will also utilize the outdoor dining patio.

“The new Powell spot promises refined dishes, handcrafted cocktails and an upscale yet inviting space perfect for everything from date nights to celebrations,” says a recent release from the restaurant. Mavi said the menu will be mostly the same.

Mavi is also a local DJ, and his first Khaab location debuted in Bexley in 2021, and was originally called Aab Bexley. Once he took ownership of the location, he transformed it into a popular Indian cuisine spot in the neighborhood. He has been planning expansion since his first location opened, but had started seriously discussing a second restaurant last year.

Khaab Indian Kitchen is coming to the Village Pointe Center shopping area, at the same plaza as Pizza Twist. Also on this side of the street are Kobe Grill and Construction Corner. This is just west of downtown Powell.
