After recently opening a new location in Newark at 917 N. 21st Street, OX-B’s is getting ready to expand throughout the greater Columbus area with even more brick-and-mortar.
The company recently launched its fourth brick-and-mortar on February 20, featuring a pickup window and 48 interior seats, according to Columbus Business First. For the Grand Opening, OX-B’s is working with The Center for New Beginnings, a foundation that serves as an Emergency Shelter and/or Service for adults and children experiencing domestic violence in their homes. The company will be accepting donations all week next week in person at the Newark location, and all money donated will go to the foundation.
This is just the beginning for the company owned and operated by Joe Holbrook. Currently, OX-B also has three mobile units, one that can travel and another at 1730 E. Main St. in Lancaster. Holbrook tells Columbus Business First that with the establishment of a permanent spot in Newark, the third mobile unit is now free to explore new markets, with Buckeye Lake or Mount Vernon as the most likely destinations. The next target for a brick-and-mortar location is Lancaster, which would also allow that mobile unit to move. It is currently unclear when the new brick-and-mortar location will open.
When these new locations open, customers can expect a familiar menu focused on chicken, including traditional, boneless, and tofu “wings.” In addition to chicken, OX-B’s has expanded its offerings to include salads, wraps, sandwiches, and signature items such as chicken and waffle fries and smothered cornbread. Holbrook and his team have growth aspirations for the brand amid a competitive, fast-casual chicken market, but they prefer to move at their own pace, supported by a mix of self-financing and investors. He mentioned that they are open to new investment opportunities.
