According to a recent article, the owners of one closed Short North eatery are reopening and reimagining the space as a spot to host food and cocktail-based events. Hiraeth, located at 36 E Lincoln St, will host its first event later this month.

Owned by husband and wife BJ Lieberman and Bronwyn Haines, the team behind other Columbus eateries Ginger Rabbit and Chapman’s Eat Market, Hiraeth opened in the third quarter of last year and closed in May of this year. Now, the couple is using the space to host collaborations with other chefs and mixologists that guests can attend, with the possibility of offering an incubator space for various resident chefs.

“We haven’t figured out the cadence of the events just yet,” said Lieberman. “There’s lots of opportunities and we’re still feeling it out.”

The first event will happen September 20 and 21, and features a cocktail pop-up with Bert Chavez of Xolo Mixto, sponsored by Bacardi brands, with food pairings prepared by the Hiraeth culinary team. The ticketed event includes five cocktails by Xolo and five complimentary snacks.

Additionally, Lieberman said there are plans to host Chavez, who formerly served as the assistant general manager at Chapman’s, the last two weekends in September and possibly into October. For more information and to stay up to date with all the events happening at Hiraeth, find the event calendar on the eatery’s website or by following the establishment on Instagram.

Editorial note: A previous version of this article incorrectly spelled BJ Lieberman’s last name.
