According to a recently filed permit, Simply Balkan Market is coming soon to the Reynoldsburg area. The market will open in a shopping center at 6020 E Main St. and the permit details work for the installation of a three-compartment sink, as well as a grease trap.

The market is owned by Stephan Nikolovski. What Now Columbus reached out to the owner for additional details about the soon to open business, but Nikolovski wasn’t available to speak with us at the time of publication.

The permit details mean the market could not only sell packaged foods and other goods from the Balkan region of Europe, but also serve authentic Balkan foods. The Balkan countries are numerous and include Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Bosnia and Croatia, among others. Balkan cuisine is a regional type of food that fuses European cuisine with some dishes and cooking techniques found in western Asia.

As detailed by the website Will Fly for Food, many Balkan dishes are focused on bread, spiced meats and stuffed vegetables and are served with a spirit known as rakija. This alcohol is made from fruits like apricot, grape, plum or mulberry, and has a high ABV, usually around 40%.
