A long-vacant corner near historic German Village is about to get new life. Switchyards, an Atlanta-based “neighborhood work club” designed for creatives, freelancers, and remote workers, is opening its first Columbus location in early 2026.
The company is taking over a long-empty building near Whittier and Jaeger, bringing its signature blend of quiet work areas, living-room style seating, warm lighting, and a members-first atmosphere. Switchyards locations are known for their home-like design, curated playlists, free coffee, and focused environment that feels more like a private retreat than a coworking office.
The brand has expanded steadily across the Southeast and Midwest, offering a space for people who want an alternative to crowded coffee shops or traditional office buildings. Members typically use Switchyards for writing, remote work, creative projects, or meetings in a distraction-free setting.
The German Village-area site will mark Switchyards’ first venture into Ohio. The company has not released an exact opening date, but renovations are underway. Once complete, the space will join a neighborhood known for its historic character, independent businesses, brick-lined streets, and strong walkability.
