MattressNextDay recently revealed interesting information about coffee consumption across the U.S., U.K., and Europe. Based on parameters like caffeine-based search trends, local coffee shop density, sleep data, and average coffee prices, it ranked several cities, including those in the U.S.
The U.K.-based mattress supplier claimed that Americans consume about 400 million coffee cups each day. With this, the country’s coffee consumption has reached a two-decade-high figure. Contrary to this, people in the U.K. consume almost 98 million coffee cups a day.
Dallas Becomes Third Most Caffeine-Reliant U.S. City
Out of MattressNextDay’s study of 50 cities in the U.S. that depend on caffeine, Dallas was found to be in the third position. With the best score of 53, Dallas residents demonstrated their love for the hot drink.
Long Working Hours and Insufficient Sleep Lead to the Results
The U.K.-based mattress brand cited the long 35.8 average working hours of Dallas locals as to why coffee consumption is high in this city of Texas. Additionally, the MattressNextDay study reported that about 36.9% of residents are not getting regular, adequate sleep.
Austin Ranked Sixth Most Caffeine-Reliant City
The Texas capital was offered the sixth rank in MattressNextDay’s study of caffeine-reliant U.S. cities. Austin received a score of 53.45 in the coffee-based analysis, which covered 50 cities. It was one of the 10 best U.S. coffee cities in 2024 as well, with a 62.08 score.
A Home to Highly-Rated Downtown Coffee Shops
Austin’s inclination towards coffee is also reflected in its 700+ coffee shops throughout the city. These shops are mostly present in its downtown area. Some highly rated names in Austin are Jo’s, Summer Moon, Radio, and Desnudo.
